About Nobex

Nearly two decades in radio. All of it leading here.

We didn’t arrive at streaming from the cloud-infrastructure side and go looking for an industry. We came up through radio — first for the people listening, then for the stations they were listening to, and now for the broadcasters themselves. Nobex Streaming is everything those years taught us, turned into a product.

How we got here

Three chapters, one thread: the technology kept changing and the thing people actually wanted never did.

  1. Chapter one

    Nobex Radio

We started by putting radio in people’s pockets.

Nobex began as a radio companion for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile — years before there was an App Store to put it in. It carried stations from more than 100 countries around with you, with the song that was playing, the schedule and the lyrics attached.

It existed because of a small, stubborn problem: you loved a station, and then you left the car. Signal ran out long before the loyalty did.

What it taught us — Listeners don’t follow frequencies. They follow stations.

  2. Chapter two

    Nobex Partners

Then the stations asked for the same thing — under their own name.

Being one station inside somebody else’s directory was never going to be enough, so we built the alternative: native iOS and Android apps, fully branded, published under the station’s own name. Push notifications, on-demand shows, CarPlay and Android Auto, subscriptions, ad integration.

Thousands of radio stations worldwide run on Nobex Partners today — community broadcasters, college stations, multi-market groups. Some have been with us for over a decade.

What it taught us — A station’s audience belongs to the station. Our job is the plumbing, not the ownership.

  3. Chapter three

    Nobex Broadcaster

But an app is only as good as the stream behind it.

The same conversation kept coming back. A station would have a beautiful app pointed at a stream held together with a PC in a back office, an encoder someone configured years ago, and a hosting bill that punished them every time the audience grew. Others had a show, an audience and no stream at all.

We were already running the hard part — audio delivery, at scale, to real listeners, every hour of every day. So we built the other half and opened it to everyone: Nobex Streaming for the station, and the Nobex Broadcaster app for the person holding the microphone.

What it taught us — The technology should be the part you never have to think about.

Why Nobex Streaming looks the way it does

None of these are opinions we started with. Each one is a lesson from a station that had a bad time before it reached us.

Radio people are not sysadmins

No encoder to install, no ports to open, no mount points or bitrates to guess at. Upload your music and the cloud AutoDJ runs your station 24/7. When you want to talk, it’s one tap in the app or one click in your browser.

Staying on air is the actual job

Anyone can start a stream. We spend our time on the part that matters at 2am — global CDN delivery and our own edge network on every plan, so a good night for your station never turns into a bad night for your listeners.

Your rights stay yours

You bring your own music license and keep full control of your content. We give you the royalty-usage reports you need to file, and we don’t resell or administer music licenses — because the station that owns its rights owns its future.

The bill should match reality

You’re priced on listening hours we actually delivered, measured from what we served — not on a concurrent-listener ceiling that tells you nothing about what your station costs or earns.

A station should earn, not just cost

Tips, paid memberships and sponsor spots are built in from day one, not sold as an add-on later. Twenty years of watching stations run on goodwill taught us that goodwill doesn’t pay for bandwidth.

And when you’re ready, the app is waiting

Your station grows into the platform we’ve been building all along. The same company that streams you today can put your station on the App Store and Google Play under your own name tomorrow.

One company, two halves

Most stations start with one and grow into the other. They’re built by the same team, and they’re designed to meet in the middle.

Nobex Streaming

The station itself. Cloud AutoDJ running 24/7, go live from your phone or your browser, global delivery, listener analytics, and tips, memberships and sponsor spots built in. From $19 a month.
